Monthly Makers is a challenge for anyone who wants to be more creative or develop their creativity. During 2016 we’ll be launching twelve themes – one for every month – to inspire and challenge you, and for you to base your creation on.
Because sometimes it’s easier to have a inspirational word to start with, because it’s more fun to create as a group and because we can all learn from showing people our creations as well as viewing others. You’ll take part in the themes you want, under the conditions and to the extent you want to.
This month I’m hosting the challenge, and I’m so super excited about this theme and so pleased to get to tell you all what it is! Because it is a magical one. Please welcome the newest member among the Monthly Makers-themes:
Basically we’re all gonna take the opportunity to express our love for stories this month. Maybe something about the fairytale your father used to read you before bed, maybe something inspired by books in general, maybe something completely different. It’s all up to you.
Saga is a great theme, and I think it can result in some truly amazing creations. If you’re feeling like it will be hard, just go ahead and be as generous as you want when it comes to the definition of of “saga”.
I think we could easily include pretty much every story ever, everything magical, everything mythological, unicorns, nostalgia and just so many things. Make a mind map! Brainstorm! If you want someone to brainstorm with, I’m pretty sure you can find someone in our facebook group.
My favourite things that come to mind when I think of the word “saga”:
Harry Potter, Moomin, Narnia,
unicorns, books, trolls,
nostalgia, Grimm, Game of Thrones,
Astrid Lindgren, Little Red Riding Hood and her beautiful cape,
wolves, the surreal, the woods, imagination,
the feeling of something lurking in the dark.
If you want more inspiration, check out the board on Pinterest!
Here’s how it works:
1. Create something inspired by the theme SAGA, and then share it on your blog or instagram (feel free to use #monthlymakers).
2. Keep track of my blog July 20th, when my creation will be posted. And then you just comment on that post with a link to your own. I need your link before the July 28th.
3. On July 31st I’ll make a compilation of everything we’ve created together and will then pass the honour of being host on to the next blogger in line.
(The easiest way to keep up with this all of this is to follow us on Facebook. It’s in Swedish though.)
Feel free to enter with anything – small or big, finished or unfinished, writing or cooking, illustration or collage. Just let the creativity flow. The only thing we ask is that you create it within this month. No old stuff!
Me being host also means I’ll be taking over the Instagram account, and I’ll be posting things related to this theme there! So if you wanna follow along just go over to @monthlymakers. (In Swedish again, sorry any English readers.)
